LEVY COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) says a 20-year-old woman was seriously injured on Sunday afternoon when she was hit by a car on Highway 19.

Troopers say the accident happened around 2:15 p.m. on Highway 19 just south of Southeast Shirley Road.

FHP says the woman was standing in the outside lane of Highway 19 when a 36-year-old woman from Tampa driving a Chevy Equinox hit her.

FHP says they don’t know why the woman was standing in the road. The troopers say the woman was in serious condition when emergency crews transported her to Shands Hospital.

They say the driver of the Chevy Equinox stopped after the collision. FHP says the driver had two passengers in her car – a 56-year-old woman and a 12-year-old boy. None of them were hurt in the accident.
