SUMTER COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – UPDATE, 4/4/2024: The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) continues to search for leads in a deadly hit-and-run accident in Sumter County.
This week, FHP says further research has narrowed down the type of vehicle they are searching for based on parts found at the crash scene.
Troopers now say a left front headlamp bezel belongs to a 1992-2007 model Ford Econoline passenger or cargo van.
They ask anyone who has information to report tips to *FHP (*347) on your cellphone.
UPDATE, 3/7/2024: The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) has renewed its call for help finding the driver who left a 63-year-old man dead in Sumter County.
FHP says someone driving southbound on the inside lane of U.S. Highway 301 hit a man who was walking in the road. They say the hit-and-run accident happened south of County Road 102.
Troopers say the man who has been identified as from Lake Mary was found in the center median around 8:00 a.m. Saturday, February 17. It’s not clear exactly when the accident happened.

FHP says based on vehicle parts found at the scene, they are looking for a 1992-1997 model Ford Bronco or F-Series Ford pickup truck due to vehicle parts located at the crash scene. They don’t know the color of the vehicle but say it will be missing its left front headlight housing.
Anyone with information, is asked to call *FHP (*347) or Crime Stoppers at **TIPS.
