OCALA, FL (352today.com) – Will it be an evening of mallets and mayhem or maybe one of chilling chukkers on Saturday, Oct. 25, 2025, at the Florida Horse Park?

The Ocala Polo Club will be celebrating Polo-Ween, as the Game of Kings takes on a unique spin. But don’t worry, the line of the ball won’t be affected by the unique apparel the players and officials will be wearing.

The players will be in costumes–costumes one can still reasonably play polo in, of course–including the umpire, who will be in non-officiating attire, said Dr. Lauren Proctor-Brown, Ocala Polo Club’s director of operations.

“We encourage everyone to tailgate and bring candy and do Trunk or Treat down the sideline,” said Proctor-Brown. “We encourage everyone of all ages to feel comfortable to trick or treat as adults miss that too.”

There will be costume contests for the spectators, with categories for best individual, best couple, best dog costume and best tailgate. Not only will those attending get to participate in the traditional divot stomping at halftime, but that’s when the costumes will be judged.

“It’s going to be a little bit more different for Halloween because we definitely love the spirit of Halloween,” said Proctor-Brown. “We really want people to feel like they can get into it as much as they want, bring their kids, it’s a super kid-friendly space. You get to get outside, run around a little and meet some horses.”

There will be a photo wall set up on the awards podium where people will be able to have their picture taken.

Prior to the 5 p.m. start of the match, spectators can learn about the game, as the club offers Polo 101 between 4:15 p.m. and 4:45 p.m., and players will interact with the attendees, explaining the rules of polo. Attendees will have an opportunity to get on a wooden horse to practice swinging a mallet and get an introduction to the sport.

General Admission tickets will be available for sale at the gate for $10 per person. Those wishing to reserve their tailgate spot, you can do so through the Ocala Polo Club website’s portal.
