MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – For many families, fishing is a way to spend time together, learn patience, and maybe even come home with a fresh-caught dinner.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is making it even easier for your family to enjoy our many lakes and rivers by hosting its spring license-free freshwater fishing weekend on April 5 and 6, giving anglers of all ages the chance to fish without a license.

Take advantage of the opportunity to explore some of our rich freshwater ecosystems like Rodman Reservoir, Orange Lake, Lake Kerr, Doe Lake, and the scenic Ocklawaha River. Whether you prefer casting from shore, kayak, or boat, these spots offer prime fishing for bass, bluegill, and more

While a license isn’t required during this special weekend, all other fishing regulations – including bag and size limits – still apply.

Learn more, get fishing tips, or plan your outing at MyFWC.com – and don’t forget to submit your catches over 8 pounds to TrophyCatch for a chance to win prizes.

Save the date: The next license-free weekend is June 8-9.
