OCALA, FL (352today.com) – UPDATE 1:15 p.m.: The Ocala Police Department (OPD) says they need the public to come forward with any information regarding the fiery crash in Ocala that left two dead and one seriously injured Tuesday night.

They are asking anyone who may have witnessed the event or have surveillance footage including home security cameras to contact them.

Police are also asking anyone who possibly observed the two vehicles involved, a white Mazda Miata and a gray Mercedes SUV, on Southeast 36th Avenue to come forward especially if you noticed any erratic driving.

“Every piece of evidence can be crucial in piecing together the details of this incident, and we greatly appreciate your cooperation in this ongoing investigation,” said OPD.

ORIGINAL 5:23 a.m.: The Ocala Police Department (OPD) along with Ocala Fire Rescue (OFR) responded to a crash around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

OPD says two vehicles, a car and an SUV, collided near the 1500 block of SE 36th Ave.

Officers say when they arrived on the scene, the car was on fire. They say OFR arrived and put out the fire within minutes. Police say two people from the car, a male and female, died at the scene. They say the man was thrown from the vehicle.

OPD says a juvenile was driving the SUV and was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
