HORSESHOE BEACH, FL (352today.com) – As if the hurricane aftermath isn’t hard enough, law enforcement officials are having to deal with out-of-towners descending on hard-hit hurricane areas.

On Monday around 11:15 p.m., Seminole County Sheriff’s Office Deputies (SCSO) conducted a traffic stop on a truck towing a trailer in Horseshoe Beach.

Deputies say the men told them they were “scrappers” from Wisconsin looking for work.

Because of the devastation and concerns about looting, Horseshoe Beach currently has a curfew in effect from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m.

SCSO Deputies arrested Chad Schultz and James Kelleher for being out past curfew.

During the investigation, SCSO deputies located a white substance that tested presumptive positive for fentanyl and a green leafy substance that tested presumptive positive for marijuana.

They were transported to the Dixie County Jail.

SCSO deputies are providing mutual aid in Dixie County as part of the ongoing recovery efforts. Dixie County Sheriff Darby Butler requested extra manpower from the state Emergency Operations Center in order to provide protection for property owners. SCSO along with Florida Fish and Wildlife and the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office were assigned the duty.
