OCALA, FL (352today.com) – Two people were rushed to the hospital this morning, Oct. 17, when the small plane they were in crashed in a field near a runway at the Ocala International Airport.

Ocala Fire Rescue (OFR) says the crash happened just before 11 a.m.

OFR says multiple emergency crews responded to the north end of the field and found a single-engine airplane with wing damage and a fuel leak.

Two people were inside the aircraft.

The emergency crews got the patients out and transported them to the hospital as trauma alerts.

OFR says the crews contained the fuel and stopped the leak.

There’s no information at this time on the conditions of the people who were inside the plane nor what may have caused the plane to crash.
