OXFORD, FL (353today.com) – UF Health broke ground last week on its third state-of-the-art emergency and urgent care center in the region, a collaboration with Dallas-based Intuitive Health, marking another step forward in UF Health’s mission to increase access to leading-edge, lifesaving health care for residents of Oxford, Wildwood, The Villages and surrounding communities.
The new 14,410-square-foot center will be open 24/7 and conveniently located on Thomas Street, just east of U.S. Highway 301 and south of East County Road 466.
Designed to provide seamless care, the facility will be staffed by ER-trained providers, including board-certified emergency medicine physicians. It will feature 14 treatments rooms offering full-service emergency and urgent care, along with on-site lab services and a radiology suite equipped with X-ray and multi-slice CT scanners to ensure patients receive timely and comprehensive treatment.
“Wildwood is one of the fastest-growing cities in the nation, and this new Emergency and Urgent Care center will ensure residents have access to the expert, timely care they need, right in their own backyard,” said Heather Long, senior vice president and UF Health Central Florida regional president.
The innovative model combines emergency and urgent care services under one roof, ensuring patients receive the appropriate level of care without having to choose between an emergency room or urgent care facility. This approach not only saves time but also reduces costs for patients. Patients will only pay for the level of care they need.
“This approach puts patients first by streamlining care and making it more accessible and affordable,” said Jared Stark, market president for Intuitive Health’s East region. “It’s a smarter, more efficient way to deliver the high-quality health care every community deserves.”
The new location will join two existing Emergency and Urgent Care centers in Mount Dora and Clermont, which have already made a significant impact since opening in June and November 2024.
With this addition, UF Health will offer six emergency access points throughout the region.
