GAINESVILLE, FL (352today.com) – UF Health officials confirmed the Shands Trauma Center activated a mass casualty response the afternoon of Thursday, April 23, 2026, following a vehicle crash on U.S. HWY 441 near Micanopy.
Patients from the crash were transported to UF Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville, where they are receiving treatment. The hospital activated its emergency command center around 1:30 p.m. in response to the incident.
Officials say the event is isolated to the roadway crash and there is no threat to public safety at the hospital or UF campus.
