Florida Highway Patrol says the driver failed to navigate a curve, causing his vehicle to leave the roadway and strike a tree.
MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – A 41-year-old Umatilla man was killed early Friday morning after crashing his vehicle along County Road 42 in Marion County.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the crash happened around 2:42 a.m. on June 27. Troopers say the man was driving eastbound when he entered a curve near SE 258th Avenue Road and failed to stay on the roadway.
The sedan veered off onto the south shoulder, hitting a road sign, a fence, and then a tree. Marion County Fire Rescue pronounced the driver dead at the scene. He was the only person in the vehicle.
FHP continues to investigate the cause of the crash.
