BELLEVIEW, FL (352today.com) – 12-year-old Kennadie Resko has been released from hospital after she was struck during a hit-and-run with a truck and trailer.
On Wednesday evening, Kennadie was walking home from Belleview Middle School when a truck traveling northbound on County Road 467 (CR 467) fishtailed out of control. The truck, which was hauling a trailer, drifted into the grass. The trailer struck Kennadie on the right side of her body, leaving rubber embedment in her skin.
The truck then took off from the scene, leaving Kennadie stranded on the side of the road.
Kennadie was immediately transported to the UF Health Shands Trauma Center. Her mother, Sara, says doctors had to debride rubber from her legs surgically.
Sara is elated to report that the debridement was a success, and Kennadie was released from the hospital and returned home last night.
Sara says that Kennadie continues to deal with swelling and limited mobility in that leg. She says recovery will be a “slow process” but is overjoyed that Kennadie is home.
Truck and Trailer
