Ocala FL. (352 Today) Residents in Marion County and across Central Florida are being urged to text 911 instead of making phone calls to contact emergency services due to an ongoing 911 system malfunction.

As of 2:45 p.m., both landline and cell phone calls to 911 are experiencing intermittent outages. While some calls may still connect, others are being dropped or not going through at all.

The 911 Communications for Marion County and the Ocala 9-1-1 emergency phone systems have been repaired and have returned to normal working conditions as of 11:48 p.m. on July 8, 2025.

Text-to-911 remains fully operational and is currently the preferred method of contacting emergency services.

Local dispatchers are actively monitoring the situation and are working to return any missed or dropped calls when possible.

Emergency management officials are asking for patience as technicians work to resolve the issue. There is no estimated time of resolution at this point.

If you need immediate help, text 911 with your location and the nature of the emergency.
