OCALA, FL (352today.com) – A pedestrian has been killed in an accident involving two vehicles.
A Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) crash report says the accident involved two sports utility vehicles.
The report states one vehicle was driven by a 74-year-old woman from Ocala (V-1), while the other was driven by a 59-year-old woman from Silver Springs (V-2)
According to the report, a pedestrian wearing dark clothing was walking within the southbound right lane of US-441 while in the dark, in an area with no lighting.
The report states that V-1 and V-2 traveled south on US-441 in the right lane when V-1 struck the pedestrian with the front of the SUV.
This impact caused the pedestrian to come to rest within the left lane.
The driver of V-2 did not see the pedestrian in the roadway and maneuvered her vehicle around V-1, which was at a complete stop due to the collision.
V-2 then inadvertently struck the pedestrian again with its undercarriage.
The pedestrian was pronounced deceased on the scene by MCFR.
MCSO announces that the roadways have since been cleared, and the previous lane closures have been lifted.
