BRONSON, FL (352today.com) – The ballots have been recounted and the results remain the same.

The outcome of two races in the election on Tuesday, Aug. 20, in Levy County, triggered an automatic recount because the margin of victory was too close.

Levy County Commission

In the race between Johnny Hiers and former Williston City Councilmember Zach Bullock for the Levy County Commission District 5 seat, Hiers led Bullock by 19 votes at the end of the night.

A machine count on Saturday yielded the same outcome. Hiers came out on top, confirming he will be joining John Meeks, Rock Meeks, the current chair Desiree Mills and Tim Hodge, on the county commission.

When they counted the votes by hand, Hiers actually picked up a vote, with the final total giving Hiers 5,067 votes to Bulock’s 5,047.

Williston City Council

In Williston, Meredith Page Martin, bested her challenger, Nick Stark, by just two votes316-314 on election night.

The vote totals didn’t change after the recount on Saturday.

The incumbent retained her Group C seat on the Williston City Council, where she’ll continue to serve with Mayor Charles Goodman, councilmembers Michael Cox, Darfeness Hinds, Alexa Riccio and Debra Jones.
