|WEEKEND WEATHER: The search for ways to escape stifling summer heat
Art in the Attic 2024: Join Marion Cultural Alliance at the annual “yART” sale. This event will have previously featured art pieces for sale at yard sale prices. You can also check out craft supplies, home decor, books, jewelry, vintage goods, and more. The sale kicks off on Friday, July 12, with a VIP Sip & Shop from 5 to 7 p.m. Tickets are $25 for members and $35 for non-members and will include unlimited champagne and live music. The sale goes until July 20 at the Brick City Center for the Arts, at 23 SW Broadway St. in Ocala.
Ochella Art and Music Festival: Head to the Ocala Downtown Market at 403 SE Osceola Ave. on Saturday, July 13, for this first annual event. This celebration of music, art, food, and community will be from 6 to 9 p.m. The event will raise funds for the Lake Weir High School Band with live music, local vendors and artisans, food trucks, and activities.
Classic Albums Live- Pink Floyd: On Sunday, July 14, at 5 p.m. rock out to Pink Floyd’s “Wish You Were Here” album covered live at the Reilly Arts Center. Tickets range from $25 to $55. The address is 500 NE 9th St. in Ocala.
Fort King Youth Summer Workshops: Fort King Heritage Foundation is featuring a different youth workshop every Saturday throughout the summer. Each class teaches a past-time activity that has been passed through generations, while including modern day twists and skills. This Saturday, July 13, the workshop is focused on soapmaking. The class is for ages 10-17 from 10 a.m. to noon and is $10. Fort King is located at 3925 East Fort King St. in Ocala.
The Seussification of Romeo and Juliet: This whimsical reinvention of Shakespeare’s classic romantic tale, as told by Thing One and Thing Two, takes the stage at the Ocala Civic Theatre from July 14 to July 16. Sunday’s show is at 2 p.m., and tickets are $20 for adults and $12 for kids. The theatre’s address is 4337 East Silver Springs Boulevard in Ocala.
