OCALA, FL (352today.com) – April showers bring busy May calendars, and the first weekend of May is kicking off with events all throughout North Central Florida.

First Friday Art Walk:  Take a self-guided tour of local artists in downtown Ocala from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, May 3. This free monthly event will have something for every member of the family, including live entertainment and hands-on art activities. You can even stop in some of the downtown shops and restaurants after viewing over 30 artist displays. This is the last Art Walk until September, so if you’ve been meaning to check it out, now is your chance.

May the 4th Be With You: Fly over to the Marion Theatre for Star Wars Day. Fans from all planets will enjoy trivia, Star Wars cocktails, character meet-ups, and a screening of Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. Tickets are $5, and the festivities will start at 1 p.m. at the Marion Theatre Docking Bay located at 50 S Magnolia Ave. in downtown Ocala.

Kentucky Derby Viewing: There’s no better place to watch the 150th Kentucky Derby than from the Horse Capital of the World®. On Saturday, May 4, sport your best derby attire and head to the Grand Outdoor Arena at the World Equestrian Center to catch the action on the Jumbotrons for FREE. Sip on classic derby cocktails and enjoy a bite at the pop-up food court from 5 to 7:30 p.m.

Cinco de Mayo: Vibrant festivities will be happening throughout North Central Florida for Mexican Independence Day on Sunday, May 5. Downtown Ocala restaurants including Cantina Tex Mex and Tequila Bar and The Lodge will be celebrating the holiday with all day specials and entertainment. Enjoy themed live music and dancing at the 2024 Cinco de Mayo Celebration in Spanish Springs Town Square, located at 1051 Main St. in The Villages.
