Ocala Downtown Market: Browse rows of booths filled with fruits, vegetables and crafts at the Ocala Downtown Market, the open-air pavilion is located at 310 SE 3rd St. in Ocala. The market is held on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The market is open rain or shine.

Walk of Champions: The City of Ocala officially unveiled this new, self-guided equine-themed experience on the square in downtown Ocala on Thursday. Two dozen bronze plaques spotlight famous horses and riders from the Ocala/Marion County area. Download the free OcalaMarion Travel Guide app to an enhance the experience with interactive elements. Plaques are located on South Magnolia Avenue and Southeast Broadway Street.

Sculpture Scavenger Hunt: Take part in a free scavenger hunt and learn about the sculptures adorning Tuscawilla Art Park in Ocala. Wind your way around the park and see the city’s newest larger-than-life sculptures. Pick up your scavenger hunt brochure at one of four locations. Complete the scavenger hunt and return the brochure to receive free family admission to the Appleton Museum.

Slime Saturday: Get messy and create slime. It’s described as ooey, gooey fun at the Micanopy branch library from 2 to 3 p.m. on Saturday. The library staff provides all the supplies. Just bring your kids to 706 NE Cholokka Blvd.

Splash Pads: Between breaks in the rain, the weekend temps will be perfect for taking the kiddos to cool off at a splash pad in Ocala. The city’s two splash pads open for the season on Saturday. The fountains are fun for kids of all ages and are operational from sunrise to sunset.
