Marion County Memorial Day Celebration: Marion County is celebrating Memorial Day at the Veterans Memorial Park at 2601 SE Fort King Street on Monday, May 27, from 10 a.m. to noon. This FREE event will celebrate The Passion of Patriotism while remembering those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
Memorial Day MURPH Challenge: Marion County Veterans Memorial Park is hosting this workout event on Saturday, May 25 starting at 8 a.m. The Murph Challenge is a fundraiser for the Lt. Michael P. Murphy Memorial Scholarship Foundation, founded in memory of Navy SEAL Michael Murphy. Challenge yourself and honor heroes at this annual FREE event, and don’t forget to register here.
“Attack of the Bloodsuckers!” at the Discovery Center: The Discovery Center, at 701 NE Sanchez Avenue, is opening a new exhibit Saturday, May 25. Dive into the world of mosquitos, fleas, ticks, and other parasites… just in time for mosquito season in central Florida! The exhibit is open Tuesdays through Saturdays, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and general admission is $8.
Sit Down for Stand Up: The Marion Theatre will feature three hilarious comics at this live stand-up show on Friday, May 24 at 7:30 p.m. The event is 21+, and tickets are $15. The lineup includes comedians Law Smith, Dan Weeks, and headliner William Sloan.
Pack Walk with Marion County Animal Services: The fourth Sunday of every month is for dog lovers! Attendees can head to Silver Springs State Park at 5656 East Silver Springs Boulevard on Sunday, May 26, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. to meet shelter dogs and take them for walks around the park. This event is the perfect opportunity for you to get outdoors in sunny central Florida, and for shelter dogs to get a break from the shelter and enjoy the sun and some socialization. Park entry is $2.
