ALACHUA COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – Two Alachua County traffic fatalities have been reported by the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).
The first wreck killed an 84-year-old man
An 84-year-old man from Gainesville died in a rollover accident on State Road (SR) 121, according to FHP.
Troopers report that around 11:54 a.m. on Sept. 20, 2024, the man was driving a van north on SR 121 when he lost control for reasons that are still unclear, close to the intersection with NW 166th Avenue.
The van veered to the right, he overcorrected to the left, causing the van to flip over, and he was thrown from the vehicle.
FHP reports that he was not wearing a seatbelt.
The second wreck killed a 27-year-old man
FHP says that a 27-year-old man was killed on County Road (CR) 234 just south of CR 2082 early Sunday, Sept. 22, 2024.
They say that the vehicle veered off the roadway and hit a utility pole around 1:30 a.m.
Alachua County Fire rescue pronounced the driver dead at the scene.
