OCALA, FL (352today.com) – With temperatures in the low 90s and lower humidity this weekend, it’ll actually feel less oppressive this weekend. On the surface, it seems like it may be a great weekend to enjoy one of Florida’s many waterways.

Before you do, make sure you know how Hurricanes Ernesto and Debby could impact your plans.

Rip Current Risk

Hurricane Ernesto strengthened into a Category 2 storm Thursday night as it barreled toward Bermuda. While it will remain hundreds of miles offshore from Florida, it will have indirect impact. The National Hurricane Center (NHC) says Ernesto will generate dangerous conditions along Florida’s Atlantic Coast. NHC meteorologists say swells are likely to cause life-threatening surf and rip current conditions.

River Flooding Potential

While Hurricane Debby has been gone from Florida more than a week, her impact is still being felt. The National Weather Service (NWS) says many of our rivers can expect flooding for at least another week. The NWS says St. Mary’s, Santa Fe and Satilla Rivers; as well as portions of the Suwannee are still experiencing moderate to minor flooding. In addition to high, swift water, there could still be dangerous debris floating.
