OCALA, FL (352today.com) – Saturday, June 1, marks the start of the Atlantic hurricane season.

This weekend will be mostly dry – albeit hot – and a good time to assess your family’s disaster readiness before a hurricane is headed for Florida.

Most experts think 2024 will be one of the busiest Atlantic hurricane seasons on record. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s annual outlook says there’s an 85% chance that the Atlantic hurricane season will be above average in storm activity and is predicting between 17 and 25 named storms.
