WILDWOOD, FL (352today.com) – Sometimes officers have to wrestle with unruly subjects. It just comes with the territory.

The Wildwood Police Department (WPD) says it was called out to Brownwood Paddock Square over the weekend to deal with an ‘unwanted visitor.’

The concern? A large alligator who captured the attention and concern of people wanting to shop and eat – not be eaten.

Brownwood Paddock Square is one of the three retail/commercial districts in the master-planned communities that make up The Villages. Its vibe is described as an “‘old-world Florida’ cattle ranch aesthetic.” Bodies of water border the square’s perimeter.

Officers blocked the roadway until trappers could get on scene and secure the gator.

WPD posted a photo on its Facebook page of two officers with the gator once it had been wrangled.

The department says the gator was relocated and the area reopened to business shortly after.

Who knows… maybe the gator was just wanting to check out the brunch specials at Gator’s Dockside or check for some pre-Black Friday shopping specials at Tommy Bahama.
