According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), a 68-year-old woman from Bushnell was driving a Ford Escort Wagon eastbound on County Road 222.
They say at the same time, a Sumter County school bus driven by a 50-year-old woman from Wildwood was traveling southbound on CR-223.
FHP says the two vehicles approached the intersection of the county roads when the woman driving the Ford Escort Wagon did not stop at a posted stop sign.
They say the bus crossed the intersection at the same time and crashed into the Ford Escort.
FHP says both drivers were transported to nearby hospitals. They say the 68-year-old woman received serious injuries, while the bus driver’s injuries were minor.
There were 14 middle and high school students on the school bus, according to FHP. They reported no injuries to any of them and said the students were released to their parents.
