WILLISTON, FL (352today.com) – Late Wednesday afternoon, the city of Williston lifted the boil water order and declared the city’s water safe to drink. The city updated the notice on its website.
ORIGINAL: Most of Williston is under a temporary boil water order.
The city issued the precautionary measure on Thursday, Nov. 30.
The city says a traffic accident broke a fire hydrant and that caused a break in the water main.
A post on the city of Williston’s website says there are at least three ruptures in the main water line, located under SW 1st Avenue.
The city says, “loss of water pressure has required us to issue a boil water notice. Effective until further notice, all city water used for drinking and cooking will need to be boiled prior to human consumption.”
The city says the boil water requirement affects the entire city limits. The only area excluded is the airport and the industrial park area.
“Our crews are working diligently to make the repairs and restore water as soon as possible,” said the city.
