According to the National Weather Service in Jacksonville, heat index values could reach as high as 112 degrees through Monday, with the most dangerous temperatures between 1 and 6 p.m. Stay hydrated, avoid outdoor activities during peak heat hours, and never leave children or pets in parked cars.
Looking ahead, we’ll likely see more afternoon thunderstorms starting early this week, which could bring some brief relief from the heat. Meanwhile, a tropical wave far out in the Atlantic is being monitored, but the National Hurricane Center says it’s unlikely to develop. For now, there’s only a 10% chance it strengthens, and conditions should become less favorable for storm development by midweek.
