OCALA, FL (352today.com) – Get ready for more extreme heat across Ocala and Marion County. According to the National Weather Service in Jacksonville, heat index values could reach as high as 112 degrees through Monday, with the most dangerous temperatures between 1 and 6 p.m. Stay hydrated, avoid outdoor activities during peak heat hours, and never leave children or pets in parked cars.
Looking ahead, we’ll likely see more afternoon thunderstorms starting early this week, which could bring some brief relief from the heat. Meanwhile, a tropical wave far out in the Atlantic is being monitored, but the National Hurricane Center says it’s unlikely to develop. For now, there’s only a 10% chance it strengthens, and conditions should become less favorable for storm development by midweek.

Monday Night: A 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 76. Light and variable wind.
Tuesday: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 2 p.m., then showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. High near 90. Calm wind becoming west around 6 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 90%.
Tuesday Night: Showers and thunderstorms before 11pm, then showers likely. Low around 74. Chance of precipitation is 80%.
Wednesday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 8 a.m., then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m., then showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. High near 88. Chance of precipitation is 90%.
