OCALA, FL (352today.com) – This year, Ocala veered from tradition and instead of fireworks opted for what it called a drone experience for its 4th of July community celebration.

Thousands packed Tuscawilla Park despite less-than-ideal weather for the Patriotic Skies event which included musical performances and an area with activities for the kids.

Mother Nature decided to provide some fireworks of her own in the form of lightning which caused a brief weather delay in the entertainment.

Once the weather cleared, the sky over Tuscawilla Park became the canvas for 300 LED-equipped drones which danced into patriotic shapes like the American Flag, Statue of Liberty and an eagle.

Sky Elements, the company that designed the show, is based in Texas but travels all over the United States performing aerial entertainment.

The creators even customized the show to celebrate the area’s equestrian roots.
