The Alachua County school district is asking for food and monetary donations for students to have meals during their winter break.

The Humane Society of North Central Florida’s free adoption event is Saturday, Dec. 9, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Many places along the Ocala Christmas parade route are already staked out for viewing but in order to navigate the streets ahead of the parade take note of closures and detours.

Celebrate the holidays with free parking in downtown Ocala at all parking meters and the parking garage on SE Broadway Street.

Interfaith Emergency Services will trade “Cans for Candy” at the Ocala Christmas Parade. Bring a canned or other nonperishable food item and receive candy in exchange.

The city says the restriction is for vehicle and pedestrian safety.
