MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – A surveillance operation by Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) detectives has led to the arrest of 34-year-old Michael Dale Campfield in connection to a string of burglaries in Marion Oaks.

Deputies slapped Campfield with a long list of charges including:

  • Grand Theft
  • Criminal Mischief
  • Dealing in Stolen Property
  • Possession of Burglary Tools
  • Possession of Cocaine
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • Attaching an Unassigned License Plate
A news release from MSCO states throughout the month of November, deputies and property crimes detectives responded to several reports of burglaries in the Marion Oaks area.

The Investigation
On Nov. 21, deputies responded to another report of a burglary at a home under construction in the 6300 block of SW 153rd Lane Road. Deputies discovered that a dishwasher and range had been stolen and that the floor of the home was damaged when the appliances were dragged from the home. Video surveillance at the site captured images of a potential suspect and his vehicle.

On Nov. 28, multiple detectives conducted a surveillance operation in the areas where the burglaries had occurred. Detectives located the vehicle captured in the surveillance footage at the intersection of SW 60th Circle and Marion Oaks Manor and pulled the driver over. The driver turned out to be Michael Campfield. During the traffic stop, detectives showed Campfield photos from the surveillance footage and deputies say he admitted he was the individual depicted.

During a search Campfield and his vehicle, deputies say they located a tire iron used during the commission of the burglaries, cocaine, a firearm, and drug paraphernalia in his possession.

Detectives say Campfield committed 11 separate burglaries in November, during which he stole several Frigidaire and Whirlpool ranges, which they say he later sold for $300 or less. In all, deputies slapped him with 31 felony offenses and 2 misdemeanors.
