DUNNELLON, FL (352today.com) – Flames shot from the roof of a home in Dunnellon as Marion County Fire Rescue (MCFR) crews arrived on the scene.

MCFR says the 911 caller stated that her home was struck by lightning and the attic and roof were on fire.

Firefighters arrived at the home in the 2300 block of Northwest Buena Vista Road in Dunnellon, just after 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 27.

Crews from multiple stations worked together to battle the blaze at the two-story home.

“Firefighters made an aggressive interior attack with multiple hose lines,” said MCFR in a Facebook post.

Due to the rural location hydrants weren’t available and multiple water tankers were brought in to battle the blaze. MCFR says Levy County Fire Rescue provided mutual and supplied their tanker to assist in the fire fight.
Despite best efforts, the flames destroyed the home. The American Red Cross is assisting the family.
