CRYSTAL RIVER, FL (352today.com) – Some Citrus County residents will be cleaning up on Monday from damage a tornado left behind.
The Citrus County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) says the damage happened Sunday evening on the west side of Crystal River.
Crystal River Mayor Joe Meek says the damage didn’t happen within the city limits. Meek said on his Facebook page that two structures were damaged on Fort Island Trail off Roy Thomas Road in an unincorporated part of the county. According to the mayor and the sheriff’s office no injuries were reported.
The mayor posted a number of photos of what appears to be a waterspout on his Facebook page.
CCSO says there are a number of powerlines down, debris strewn around, and traffic lights out. They advise people to stay away from the area.

Many people in the area posted on social media saying they didn’t receive a warning about the tornado. The sheriff’s office posted on its Facebook page addressing those concerns.
“We have received many questions about why an alert was not sent out by the National Weather Service advising of a tornado watch or warning,” stated the sheriff’s office on its Facebook page. “According to the National Weather Service, the tornado that touched down in Crystal River was too small in size to register on their radar.”
