LAKE COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – Just one month after the ambush shooting that killed Lake County Master Deputy Bradley Link, another deputy who was seriously wounded by the gunfire walked out of the hospital on his own.

Deputy Stefano Gargano is one of three deputies who was shot in the crossfire of the August 2nd ambush shooting in Eustis.

Gargano, age 28, was hit multiple times in the stomach, groin, and armpit area. He was extracted from the scene and rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

Gargano experienced multiple surgeries in the last month, including a series of arm operations.

After a month in recovery, Gargano was greeted by a large crowd as he was discharged from the HCA Florida Lake Monroe Hospital in Sanford on Monday.

“Deputy Gargano suffered critical injuries and is now on the road to recovery,” said the Lake County Sheriff’s Office in a post on Facebook. “We’re very thankful to the hospital staff for helping Stef return back home!”

Deputy Harold Howell was also injured in the ambush.  He had surgery on his arm shortly after the shooting and was released by doctors to recover at home.
