LAKE COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – Deputies with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) were patrolling the Paisley area on August 27, when they say a victim flagged them down.

LCSO says the victim pointed them in the direction of 36-year-old Timothy Gunter, who they say had just burglarized their home while the victim’s family members were inside.

Deputies located Gunter, who they say matched the description given to them by the victim.

During questioning, LCSO says that Gunter explained to them that he had just received some “bad” narcotics and took out a plastic baggie containing what was later determined to be methamphetamine.

Deputies say Gunter told them that he thought “something was wrong” with the drugs and that he wanted them to be tested.

LCSO says Gunter admitted to breaking into the residence because he could hear dogs barking inside.

LCSO was given surveillance video from the victim’s home that showed Gunter looking into the victim’s window after he reportedly broke down the door to the victim’s screen porch.

Deputies then arrested Gunter and transported him to the Lake County Jail.

Gunter is being held on charges of:

  • Burglary of an Occupied Dwelling
  • Possession of Controlled Substance without Prescription (meth)
  • Criminal Mischief

He is being held on $18,000 bond.

This is not Gunter’s first run-in with Lake County deputies. The resident of Deland has been arrested and booked into the Lake County Jail a total of 6 times, according to LCSO arrest records.
