OCALA, FL (352today.com) – Ocala Fire Rescue (OFR) will be conducting a training burn at the Ocala International Airport this week.
OFR says the scheduled burn will take place on Friday, September 20, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
OFR says the exercise will be for recruits and will simulate an aircraft emergency on airport grounds. The department says the burn will include real-life scenarios that airport personnel and emergency responders could encounter while out in the field.

Smoke and flames may be visible to those at the airport during those hours, according to OFR.
The department is asking residents and businesses in the vicinity to not be alarmed as the training will be conducted “under strict safety protocols” and poses “no threat to the public nor surrounding areas.”
