BELLEVIEW, FL (352today.com) – The City of Belleview is increasing its fundraising activities for the United Way of Marion County.
This year’s events start with the annual Community Yard Sale on Saturday, October 12, 2024, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Belleview Community Center, located at 5615 SE 110th Pl.
“The yard sale has become a signature event in our city where neighbors meet, share stories, and hunt for hidden treasures. But it’s more than just a sale – it’s a way for all of us to contribute to the greater good,” says Robert Vass, Events and Promotions Manager for Belleview. “This year, all proceeds from booth rentals will go directly to the United Way of Marion County, an organization that continuously works to improve the quality of life for our residents. So, whether you’re selling, shopping, or simply making a donation, you’re playing a vital role in that effort.”

Belleview is offering rental spaces at the Community Center for vendors and residents to sell items instead of hosting a yard sale. The prices are $20 for an indoor space with a table, $10 for an outdoor space without a table, and $15 for outdoor space with a table. Extra tables can be rented for $5 each. This benefits the United Way and helps individuals declutter and make money.
“We’re thrilled to continue our partnership with the United Way and to support their impactful work in our community,” says Sandi McKamey, Belleview’s City Administrator. “The City of Belleview has always been dedicated to giving back, and this yard sale is a key part of that effort. Not only does it provide a way for residents to clean out their closets and make some extra money, but more importantly, every space rented helps support critical services provided by the United Way. Their programs touch so many lives here in Marion County, from helping families in need to providing educational resources. We are proud to stand behind this cause and encourage everyone to participate.”
Angilia Pittsley, who manages the city’s United Way programs, expressed her excitement about the event. “It’s wonderful to see the community come together for such a great cause. The United Way does so much for our neighbors, and events like these are a fun and easy way for people to get involved,” says Pittsley. “Whether you’re renting a booth to sell some of your unused items or coming out to find a great deal, every action supports those in need. I encourage everyone to join us – there’s still time to reserve a spot if you’re thinking about participating.”
The city is also hosting a candy sale at City Hall and the Public Works office, selling items at the Light Up Lake Lillian event on December 7, 2024, and accepting monetary donations at City Hall.
For over 60 years, the United Way of Marion County has funded various programs to improve lives by focusing on health, education, financial stability, and basic needs, encouraging local residents to create lasting change.
Contact Angilia Pittsley at (352) 233-2119 by October 10, 2024, to reserve a booth. All proceeds support United Way programs benefiting Marion County residents.
