ALACHUA COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – As the 2024 General Election gets closer, it’s important to be ready. The deadline to register to vote is coming up soon with October 7 just a week away. Alachua County Supervisor of Elections Kim A. Barton offers voting guidance that can be applied to any county.

Why Registration Matters

Every voter, regardless of their political party, can participate in elections. This is important because voters have the power to select candidates for their communities and decide on changes to the state constitution. Remember, Election Day is on November 5, 2024, and you need to register by the deadline to make sure your voice counts.

How to Register
  • Online Registration: For Florida residents, registering online is a quick and secure option. Visit RegisterToVoteFlorida.gov to complete your registration. You’ll need a valid Florida State ID (either a Driver’s License number or Florida ID Card number) along with the last four digits of your social security number.
  • In-Person Registration: You can register in person at your local Supervisor of Elections office. Additionally, voter registration forms can be filled out at any Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles office or at any local public.
  • By Mail: If you prefer to register by mail, forms are available online. Just remember, completed forms must arrive at your Supervisor of Elections Office before 5 p.m. on the Oct. 7 deadline.
Check Your Registration Status

For those already registered, now’s the time to verify and update your voter registration status. Again, you can do this at your county’s Supervisor of Elections office, or at its website. Making any necessary changes ahead of time is essential, as it can affect your assigned polling place on Election Day.
