MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – Well, the midterm primary election is pretty much in the books, at least in North Central Florida, where the polling apparatus has been refined in the years since, oh, about November of 2000.
While yesterday’s election produced a number of surprises around the country, the 352 voted largely as anticipated, hewing to its traditionally majority-Republican roots and keeping members of that party in office. Marion County also voted in favor of Amendment 3, continuing to provide tax income for education, and the parks bond referendum (all of which passed), as well as the farm equipment tax exemptions of Amendment 2 (which didn’t). Residents of Dunnellon also voted to get rid of town charter language codifying a municipal police force, since they haven’t had one for awhile anyway.
Below is the rundown of the results; they aren’t official until they’re certified by the Canvassing Board, but here’s how things shook out on Election Night. Unofficial winners are in bold.
