LEVY COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – A 63-year-old woman from Chiefland died in a two-car wreck on Thursday afternoon, as reported by the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).
FHP says that the fatal crash happened shortly after 4 p.m. at the intersection of NW 60th St. and NW US Highway 19 (Hwy. 19). They say that the woman was driving east on NW 60th St., nearing the highway when the crash happened. The other car, driven by an unknown person, was going south on Hwy. 19, also approaching the intersection.
According to troopers, the two vehicles collided at the crossing. The Chiefland woman, who they say was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the second vehicle sustained only minor injuries and was not transported to the hospital.
Authorities have not released the identity of the victim as they await notification of next of kin.
