OCALA, FL (352today.com)—It may feel like an ordinary Thursday, but today is dedicated to the hard-working individuals who make up our local law enforcement.
January 9 commemorates Law Enforcement Appreciation Day (L.E.A.D), a day on which the public thanks law enforcement for the honor, courage, dedication, and compassion it continuously shows for the safety of our community.
Today’s social media home pages are littered with L.E.A.D posts from government departments, including the Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO).

“We at the Marion County Sheriff’s Office want to take a moment to recognize the incredible men and women who serve as law enforcement officers — both here in Marion County and across the nation,” wrote MCSO on Facebook. “To our deputies: we are proud of you. Your dedication, professionalism, and compassion make a difference in the lives of so many. You are the heart of our mission, and your hard work does not go unnoticed.”
MCSO received a “Law Enforcement Survival Kit” from the Transitions Life Center (TLC), which consisted of Lifesavers, trail mix, fruit, and more.

The City of Belleview further chimed in with some words of their own.

“In Belleview, we are fortunate to have incredible officers who go above and beyond every day. Whether they’re responding to emergencies, building connections with our residents, or simply being a reassuring presence in times of uncertainty, their service makes a profound difference in our lives,” wrote the City of Belleview on Facebook.
Ocala PD curated a video on behalf of L.E.A.D.
“Today, we honor the courage and dedication of the men and women in law enforcement,” the department wrote in the video’s caption. “We are grateful for their service and commitment in protecting us all.”
