MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – The Marion County Fire Rescue (MCFR) team has new modernized equipment to add to its expanding arsenal.
MCFR introduced the Skydio X10 drone on Facebook. The department describes it as a “force multiplier” capable of deploying to a task in under one minute. The department plans to utilize the drones to gather “critical” aerial intelligence without risking the safety of first responders.
The department’s HAZMAT team will operate the drone, a “game-changer” for emergencies, search and rescue operations, and large-scale fire incidents.

MCFR has fitted the drones with advanced thermal imaging, allowing the drone to see through smoke to identify victims and hazards inside a structural fire.
The department says the drones are licensed by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and technicians operating them have their UAV Pilot Licenses.
MCFR says the drones are equipped with real-time video streaming, which provides them with a “comprehensive” view of the scene and enables the department to make the best decision possible for the safety of first responders and involved citizens.
