AUBURNDALE, FL (352today.com) – A strong combination of hitting and pitching propelled the College of Central Florida Patriots to a three-game sweep at the Early Bird JUCO Classic in Auburndale this weekend, as they outscored their opponents 34-2.
Game 1: Patriots Shut Out Hillsborough, 5-0
In Friday’s opener, the Patriots shut out Hillsborough Community College 5-0. Jake Meadows earned the win, tossing four innings and allowing just two hits, no runs, and striking out five batters. Colston Altman sealed the victory with three hitless innings of relief. Miles Curley led the offense with two hits and three RBIs.

Game 2: CF Bats Explode in 16-1 Win Over St. Petersburg
Saturday’s second game saw the Patriots’ bats come alive in a 16-1 win over St. Petersburg College. Dawson Harman blasted two home runs, driving in seven runs. Victor Martinez hit his first collegiate home run and drove in three, while Brett House also homered. Peyton Fall earned the win on the mound, throwing two innings, allowing one run on one hit, and striking out three. Jay Jung and Cory Geinzer combined for five scoreless innings of relief, giving up just two hits and striking out four.
Game 3: CF Dominates Chipola, 13-1
In the final game of the weekend, CF dominated nationally ranked Chipola College 13-1. Harman stayed hot with three hits, including his third home run of the weekend. House added his second homer, and Logan Chapman drove in three with two doubles. Joey Wimpelberg delivered a stellar start, throwing three innings of one-hit, scoreless ball while striking out seven Chipola batters. Brayden Toro finished with two shutout innings, striking out four.
Home Opener: CF Patriots vs. A3 Academy
The Patriots’ home opener is Tuesday, January 28th, at 2:00 PM against A3 Academy. All CF home games are held at Goodlett Field on the College of Central Florida campus in Ocala, and all games are free to the public.
