MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – April has been officially declared Water Conservation Month by the Marion County Board of County Commissioners – and it’s more than just a title. With Florida’s water supply facing growing demand, this is a local issue that affects all of us, whether you live in Ocala, own a business in Dunnellon, or farm in the Fort McCoy area.
April is typically one of the driest months of the year, making it the ideal time to rethink how we use water. The county, in partnership with state and regional agencies, is using this month to spotlight simple but meaningful ways we can all help—like checking sprinkler systems for leaks, upgrading toilets, or even just watering lawns less often.

Marion County’s Water Resources team is already making an impact – saving more than 63 million gallons of water each year through community programs and conservation tools. They’ve also repaired over 200 septic systems and are planning to remove or replace more than 8,000 over the next two decades to protect our groundwater and springs.
