MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – On April 3, Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) deputies responded to a report that a firearm had been pointed at children outside a home in northwest Marion County.

According to MCSO, a victim reported that two people riding a moped passed by and the passenger pointed what appeared to be a gun at children playing in the yard. The passenger was described as a young male with dreadlocked hair. A witness later told MCSO that they heard six gunshots after the moped left the area.

Deputies located the moped a short time later. The driver, identified as Alexis Joel Diaz, initially fled but soon stopped. During the encounter, MCSO says that Diaz threw a realistic-looking BB gun from his waistband before complying with commands. No injuries were reported.

Deputy J. Young later found the passenger, identified as 17-year-old Titan Kiner, nearby. MCSO says that Kiner admitted to pointing the BB gun and was taken into custody.

Kiner faces a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Diaz was charged with fleeing and eluding law enforcement and driving without a valid license. The investigation is ongoing.
