OCALA, FL (352today.com) – The Florida Forest Service’s Waccasassa Forestry Center announced it will not issue outdoor burn authorizations today, Friday, April 11, 2025, for Alachua, Gilchrist, Levy, Marion, and Putnam counties.
Officials say the weather isn’t safe for burning today. It’s been dry for several days, the air is also very dry, and strong winds could cause fires to spread quickly and unpredictably.
While no official burn bans are currently in place for these counties, daily decisions on outdoor burning are based on weather forecasts provided by the National Weather Service in Jacksonville.
You are asked to follow local guidelines and stay updated on changing conditions. For statewide burn ban updates, visit the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services’ wildfire information page at fdacs.gov.
