OCALA, FL (352today.com) – If your commute includes taking SR 200, you may have noticed a lot of construction and some big changes.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is making safety upgrades to the stretch of SR 200 between I-75 and S. Pine Ave.

Main Changes

  • Raised medians: Instead of one big center lane for turns in both directions, concrete medians will be added to better control traffic flow.
  • Designated turn lanes: Left-turn lanes will be added at key spots, making it easier (and safer) to turn without crossing several lanes of traffic.
  • Pedestrian crossings: Three new pedestrian signals (like crosswalk lights) will help people cross safely.
  • Road resurfacing: The entire road will get a fresh layer of asphalt.
  • Other upgrades: Sidewalk improvements, new lighting, updated signals, drainage, signs, and landscaping.
