OCALA, FL (352today.com) – North Central Media has partnered with 10 Can, Inc. for the 2023 North Central Florida Outdoor Expo at the World Equestrian Center in Ocala.  A portion of the proceeds from this year’s event will go to the faith-based non-profit.

Dr. Matthew R. Burke is founder of 10 Can, Inc., a Christian adventure network for military and first responder families.  Dr. Burke says he was inspired to start this network in 2014 because he didn’t want his life to be in vain. He wanted to make a difference.

Dr. Burke, an Air Force combat veteran, was injured in Afghanistan and began suffering from PTSD and chronic pain.  While he first thought it was the end of his calling, he says he had to see it as just the end of a chapter and turn the page instead of staying stuck.

Dr. Burke shared that 10 Can, Inc. originally started with the notion that “a 10-year-old can accomplish anything that they put their minds to with the right training.”  It later became symbolic of the 10 life elements that Dr. Burke studied while researching suicide prevention.

“The hidden heroes are the spouses, the moms and dads that are supporting their warrior, and even the children have a huge impact in the overall wellness of our heroes,” Dr. Burke says.  “So, when an organization doesn’t incorporate the family into the healing process, it’s a huge foul.”

Today, 10 Can, Inc. continues to create a global outreach of volunteers empowered to prevent suicides and develop relationships between warriors and Jesus Christ.
