BRONSON FL. (352 Today) — A Bronson man was arrested on August 17 after a traffic stop led to the discovery of methamphetamines, ammunition, and a large amount of cash, according to the Levy County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputy Rich Peters initiated the stop after observing a Jeep traveling at excessive speed through Bronson. The driver, identified as 47-year-old Otis R. Johnson of Bronson, appeared noticeably nervous, prompting further investigation.

During the stop, Deputy Peters reported smelling the odor of burned marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. When asked, Johnson admitted he did not have a prescription for medical marijuana. He also revealed that the vehicle was a rental assigned to a third party who was not present.
Johnson stated there may be marijuana in the vehicle belonging to the person who rented it and granted consent for a search.
That search revealed significantly more than marijuana. Deputy Peters discovered more than 100 grams of methamphetamines, ammunition and a substantial sum of cash. Johnson was taken into custody on site.
Further investigation revealed Johnson is a convicted felon, legally prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition.
He was booked into the Levy County Detention Center and charged with trafficking in methamphetamines, possession of ammunition by a convicted felon and possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond has been set at $135,000.
The case remains under investigation by the Levy County Sheriff’s Office.
