OCALA, FL (352today.com) – The College of Central Florida revealed on Friday that its Vintage Farm Campus in Ocala has been presented with the Florida Farm Bureau‘s County Alliance for Responsible Environmental Stewardship (CARES) Award in Marion County.
The Farm Bureau is Florida’s largest agricultural organization. It represents the interests of those who produce the Sunshine State’s approximately 300 homegrown commodities, with a stated mission “to increase the net income of farmers and ranchers, and to improve the quality of rural life,” and its annual CARES Award recognizes those whose best management practices exemplify protection of natural resources and good environmental stewardship.
CF’s 103-acre Vintage Farm Campus offers a unique and experiential educational experience in agriculture, allowing students to literally get their hands dirty while pursuing degrees in equine studies and agribusiness. Its grounds were donated anonymously to the college in 2016 by a longtime supporter or agricultural education.
