WILDWOOD, FL (352today.com) – The City of Wildwood announced it will be closing lanes and creating detours overnight at several locations at a major intersection along Signature Drive, beginning this Sunday, Oct. 12.

The temporary changes will affect the southbound right turn lane onto State Road 44, the opposing northbound left turn lane onto SR 44, and the through lane on Powell Road. The closures and detours will occur between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. and are necessary to add new northbound and southbound lanes, as well as turn lanes in both directions heading northbound on Signature Drive at the intersection.

Access to local businesses along the construction zone will be maintained throughout the project. Signs warning motorists of the construction in advance are already in place, and a traffic control officer will be on-site during the closures, which the city anticipates will last until early 2026.

“While Signature Drive is not a residential neighborhood, it supports and heavy and increasing load of commercial traffic, including trucks, equipment, customers, and employees,” said City of Wildwood Public Works Director Jeremy Hockenbury in a release. “This work will greatly enhance safety and efficiency in the area. We are eager to bring these improvements to our community.”
