OCALA, FL (352today.com) – Caden Speight, the 17-year-old from Dunnellon who was arrested in mid-October and accused of faking his own kidnapping, has reportedly been sentenced to house arrest.

According to multiple reports, the Fifth Judicial Circuit State Attorney’s Office has confirmed that Speight pleaded no contest to the charges against him on Monday, Nov. 17, 2025, and was sentenced to one year of electronically monitored house arrest and 100 hours of community service. He must also undergo counseling, take firearms safety classes and pay $24,500 in restitution to offset the cost of the search that ensued after an Amber Alert was issued on Sept. 25, 2025, when he texted a parent that he had been shot and abducted by four Hispanic men.

After Speight was seen on a video buying camping gear and a bike at Walmart, he was located in Williston with a gunshot wound; however, the subsequent investigation led the Marion County Sheriff’s Office to arrest him for perpetrating a hoax.
